The chain-of-custody argument
Organic certification never certifies a molecule — it certifies every hand the ingredient passed through. Grower, handler, miller, fermenter, packer: each step must be certified and segregated, or the product loses its status even though the chemistry is unchanged.
That is the real cost of organic — not the ingredient itself, but the segregated supply chain and the audit trail. When the entire chain is yours, as it is in our integrated corn-to-sweetener operation, the segregation risk drops and so does the premium.
When organic is worth it, and when it is not
Worth it
When the finished product carries an organic claim, or sells into organic retail where the whole formula must be certifiable. The sweetener is a declared ingredient — if it is not organic, the product is not organic.
Not necessary
When the product is not making an organic claim and the buyer is optimizing on cost. Conventional erythritol or allulose does the same functional job at a lower price.
