Organic HFCS in Beverages: F42 and F55 for Cost-Effective Sweetness
In a carbonated drink, the sweetener has to be cheap, clean and stable in acid. High fructose corn syrup is built for exactly that — which is why it has been the beverage industry's default sweetener for decades.
The organic version brings the same function to brands that need the USDA/EU certificate trail.
F42 vs F55
The number is the fructose percentage. F42 is the workhorse for a range of drinks; F55 is sweeter and lets a formula match full sucrose sweetness at a lower cost. Both run through our organic corn chain.
HFCS has a cold-sweet property — its sweetness holds up in chilled and carbonated beverages, which is exactly where a drink is consumed.
Full replacement range
Our handbook lists soft drinks at 0-100% sucrose replacement with HFCS — the widest replacement window of any sweetener in the line. For an organic soda, that means a cost-effective route to an organic label without reformulating around a specialty sweetener.
Color ≤25 IU and 5-HMF ≤20 mg/kg keep the finished drink clean-tasting and stable through shelf life.
